Regular Expressions, Easy at Last

Being a programmer, I can always appreciate a well written technical tutorial.

This has to be the best tutorial ever written on Regular Expressions:

The absolute bare minimum every programmer should know about regular expressions

100 Useful Ubuntu Links

I’ve been using Ubuntu for over a year now, and frankly I think it has Vista beat. As soon as my college classes are done this semester I will be formatting my new laptop (which came with Vista Home Premium) and installing Ubuntu.

Now that Dell is on board to offer Ubuntu on new Dell laptops and PCs, I don’t see this market getting any smaller.

Drupal 5 is here!

After 8 months of development we are ready to release Drupal 5.0 to the world. Today is also Drupal’s 6th birthday, so the timing could not be more perfect. Drupal 4.0 was released in 2002 and finally we feel confident to increase the major version number from 4 to 5.

Windows Home Server and iPhone

At CES this week, Microsoft announced the forthcoming Windows Home Server and Apple quickly upped the ante with a great new mobile device tagged the iPhone.

Guess who won the limelight?

Apple of course. Their stock is up 8% as of writing and RIM is down 8%. I watched the keynote. I want one of these things and I can’t even use it. (no Cingular in this neck of the woods)

Oh and Microsoft, no one cares. By now everyone has already created a file server for their house, if they need one. And guess what, it’s more than likely Linux based cause it’s free, stable, and you don’t have to pay separately for every option.

Drupal 5 release candidate

Rejoice fellow Drupalites! After just two betas we present you the first Drupal 5 release candidate (RC1).

Download it from:

You can read about the new features in the beta 1 announcement. In contrast to the beta’s, most debugging has been done and, should no more fatal bugs emerge, this version is release worthy. A list of all the bugfixes since beta 2 can be found on the release page.

Comparing Programming Languages in real life

BASIC – The horny divorcee that lives next door. Her specialty is seducing young boys and it seems she is always readily available for them. She teaches them many amazing things, or at least they seem amazing because it is their) first experience. She is not that young herself, but because she was their first lover the boys always remember her fondly. Her cooking and sewing skills are mediocre, but largely irrelevant, it’s the frolicking that the boys like. The opinion that adults have of Mrs. BASIC is varied. Shockingly, some fathers actually introduce their own sons to this immoral woman! But generally the more righteous adults try to correct the badly influenced young men by introducing them to well behaved women like Miss Pascal.

User Refunded for not using Windows

A Sheffield man has won a refund from Dell for not installing Microsoft’s Windows XP on a laptop he bought from the PC giant.

Freelance programmer Dave Mitchell ordered a Dell laptop on 21 October, and the machine was delivered a few days later.

As Mr Mitchell was planning to run the Linux open source operating system on the machine, he had no need for the copy of Windows XP Home that had been pre-installed

Wow, I didn’t know you could do that! Full Link
