MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A church that wanted to do something special for Hurricane Katrina victims gave a $75,000 house, free and clear, to a couple who said they were left homeless by the storm. But the couple turned around and sold the place without ever moving in, and went back to New Orleans.
“Take it up with God,” an unrepentant Joshua Thompson told a TV reporter after it was learned that he and the woman he identified as his wife had flipped the home for $88,000.

Now I think I’ve seen everything. If this service was just a little cheaper though, I might be tempted to subscribe since I get an awful lot of junk mail and credit card applications.
Kirkland, Washington based company Document Command Inc. has launched its consumer facing web interface for postal mail called Remote Control Mail.
The service provides an alternative to PO Boxes, mail forwarding or
waiting until you get home from the road to deal with your mail. The
company receives your postal mail, scans the outside of what’s sent to
you and provides a web interface to quickly sort through letters,
bills, magazines and direct mailings. Though Remote Control Mail is
targeted today towards niche users, that market size is not small and
there are plans to extend related services to far more users. Document
Command is working on a full scale robotics system that will provide
even more functionality to institutions and mail customers in general.

A Sheffield man has won a refund from Dell for not installing Microsoft’s Windows XP on a laptop he bought from the PC giant.
Freelance programmer Dave Mitchell ordered a Dell laptop on 21 October, and the machine was delivered a few days later.
As Mr Mitchell was planning to run the Linux open source operating system on the machine, he had no need for the copy of Windows XP Home that had been pre-installed
Wow, I didn’t know you could do that! Full Link

I’ve been talking about this for a few years. Apparently some think it is right around the corner:
Possibilities
We see 3 scenarios for a GoogleOS:
- A web based desktop (i.e. operating system)
- A full featured Linux distribution
- A lightweight Linux distro and/or BIOS
We’ll try to explain each of these in detail – then in the conclusion, make our prediction. What’s more, we think this could be less than 6 months away from happening.

No matter what anyone says, Bismarck is growing in leaps and bounds. I know for sure because the city has added stoplights to four intersections just on my route to work and that is the city’s answer for growth: add stoplights and cops.
What this means for the rest of us is there is more idiots on the road every day. I’m not quite sure why we need cops anymore because unless you are driving a Porsche, you can not accelerate past the speed limit between the stop lights every block and the other idiots between you and the next light.
Anyway my point is that they lit up the new stoplight this morning on Divide Ave and 26th street so watch out and be prepared to stop and be stopped.
